David L. “Red” Harper, 69, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday January 27, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
David was born July 3, 1951, in Lynchburg, a son of the late Lewis Harper and Edna (Estelle) P. Harper.
David was a Veteran of the USMC and Retired from Red’s Chips as the Wise potato chip man.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita W. Harper, and his daughter Renee’ C. Willkerson.
David is survived by his daughter, Theresa Wills-Harris & Allen Harris of Lynchburg; two sisters, Bonnie & Steve Coleman of Lynchburg, and Phyllis & Jerry Glovier of Chesterfield VA; a brother, Henry & Barbara Harper of Rock Hill SC; two grandchildren, Ashby (Jazmine) Wilkerson, and Jacqueline Wilkerson of Lynchburg; one aunt, Doris Cofflin of Madison Heights; four Nephews; a cousin, Mike Cofflin; and many other cousins and a special friend, Pat Tucker, of Campbell Co.
Red also had many other special friends who cared very much for him including the ladies at the Fort Avenue Quickie, MT, Tomkat, Shanonon, Jo, Bobby B, Bobby W, Will, Rob, Jimmy Lee, Bronson, Wanda, Erick, AD, Pete, Lawrence, Jennifer, Mike, Walsey, Barbara, Glo, Kevin, JC, David B, Buddy M, Mary Jane, Brittany, and Avery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
