David Ray Anderson, Sr.

Mr. Dave Anderson, 89, of Lynchburg, VA died on Thursday, May 5, 2011 after a courageous battle with Parkinson\"™s disease.   He was born on February 24, 1922 in New Orleans, LA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marion Elliott Anderson; five devoted children: Margie Dorman (Jim); Ann Tretiak (Stan); Betty Burch (Terry); David Anderson, Jr. (Mary); and Stephen Anderson (Renee); 13 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Reese Anderson.

Dave was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was a sales representative for Webster Brick Company for 34 years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2011, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502. Graveside services will take place on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Father Richard Mooney officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 22712 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.

The family is deeply grateful for the care given by the staff at Runk and Pratt on Leesville Road.
