David Robert Futscher, Jr.

David Robert Futscher, Jr., 63, of Forest, died on Tuesday, August 06, 2013. He was the husband of Betty Fariss Futscher. Born on January 17, 1950 in McKeesport, PA, he was a son of the late Caryl Shiring Futscher and the late David Robert Futscher, Sr.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by two daughters, Vicky Leary and husband, John of Amherst and Heidi Futscher of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren Lindsey Bryant of Lynchburg and Justin Leary of Amherst; two great-grandchildren Miyah and Kassidy Leary of Amherst; one brother, Marty Futscher and wife, Linda of Cortland, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

David was member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was a self-employed computer consultant. Prior to starting his own business he worked for 34 years at General Electric in Lynchburg. David was an avid golfer, a fanatical Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved gardening.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael McCarron followed by a reception. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in David\"™s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2050 Langhorne Road, Suite 201, Lynchburg, VA 24501.

David\"™s family would like to thank the many nurses and staff of the Oncology Department at Lynchburg General Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided David.
