David L. Vandeventer

December 30, 1955 — May 11, 2024

David L Vandeventer, 68, of Lynchburg, Virginia, formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia and Wakefield, Massachusetts, passed away after a three year battle with cancer in the early morning hours of May 11, 2024, at his home, with his spouse, Brian L Morgan, by his side. He is the son of the late Howard and Ruth Vandeventer, of Port Orchard, Washington, and had been with his spouse for 28 years.

David was born in December, 1955, in Los Angeles, CA and was raised in Issaquah, Washington after his family moved from California when he was a child. David was a self-taught systems engineer for the financial and communications industries, as well as having owned and operated several small businesses throughout his life. After retirement, David earned his GED and briefly attended college.

David was a man of high intellect with a passion for all things science and technology, and was constantly seeking to expand his knowledge. It was not uncommon for him to research various topics related to medicine, space exploration, technological advancements, law, or finance. David also enjoyed music, having played the organ for his church in the past, and took great pride in being a mentor to young people in his life.

In addition to his spouse, David is survived by his sister, Kris, and brother-in-law, Ralph Riddle, of Port Orchard, Washington; two nieces, Marna and Sara; a nephew, Zachary; and several great-nieces and great-nephews; many loving friends in the community; and his dog, Dixie.

In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his great-nephew, Leo.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society.
