David W. Meade

David Wesley Meade, 67, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020. Born in Alexandria, VA on February 4, 1953, he was a son of the late Ryland Meade and the late Doris Hall Meade.

David attended Amherst County public schools.  He started a retail sales career immediately after graduating high school and soon moved into management at several large stores throughout the eastern U.S. before retiring as manager of Joseph A. Banks at Boonsboro.  David enjoyed visiting historical sites, reading history books and having family picnics on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He also loved the beach and camping in the mountains.  Most of all, David adored spending time with his granddaughters Adrianna and Gabriella who live in North Carolina.

David is survived by his two granddaughters Adrianna and Gabriella Meade; his brothers, Charles H. Meade (Peggy), Alan J. Meade (Debbie), Paul W. Meade, and Bryon P. Meade; nieces, Wendy Onofry (Troy), Tina DeHart, Allison Kelley (Craig), Ellison Meade, and Maisie Meade; nephew, Asher Meade; great-nieces, Lauren Onofry, and Abigail Kelley; and his great-nephews, Brandon DeHart, Cole Onofry, and Carter Onofry.

David was preceded in death by his son Brandon Meade and his daughter-in-law Donna Meade.

A visitation with the family will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Tharp Funeral home, Lynchburg.
