David Wade Williams, Sr. “Big Dave”, 73, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on August 18, 2023. He was the son of the late Earl P. Williams and Lela Kate Moore Williams.
David was born on May 5, 1950, in Appomattox, VA. David was a member of Lynchburg Moose Lodge #715 and attended Dayspring Baptist Church.
He was retired from Alliance Industrial in 2011; however, he had a part-time job driving cars for the Mazda/Mabry Auto Group on Forest Rd. in Lynchburg. David made some very good friends while working with Mazda and enjoyed working with his two brothers, Harry & Gene.
While David traveled to and lived in California and Colorado in his younger days, Virginia was his home and he loved driving the backroads and admiring the beauty of the state.
David enjoyed karaoke, playing pool, watching wrestling, coloring in adult coloring books, playing cards with friends, Chinese food, doing card tricks that he learned when he was a kid, and telling jokes. He was a big fan of Elvis and anything relating to his American Indian heritage.
David is survived by his children: David W. Williams, Jr.; Michael “Mike” Williams and wife, Tina; Ashleigh Key and fiancé, Jordan; and Davina Hall, and husband, Larry. His grandchildren: Cheyenne Hull, Tyler Williams, Jacob Williams, Hannah Williams, Ruby Anne Godfrey, and Cady Hall. His great-grandchildren: Ledger, Zepplin and Dean; and his siblings: Delores “Doe” Dojaquez, Virginia Freeman, Gene Williams, and Harry Williams and many loving friends in the community, especially Theresa, Randy and Duke.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings: James Earl Williams, Johnny U. Williams, Jackie Williams, Carolyn Hilda Williams, Roy Williams, and Brenda Williams.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff that have helped our father during this time, especially Dr. C. McCallum at Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center. Dad was a grumpy man at times and you put up with him every step of the way. Thank you for being there for him.
We will celebrate the life of Big Dave on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at the Lynchburg Moose Lodge #715 located at 2307 Lakeside Dr. Lynchburg, VA from 6pm-8pm. David wouldn’t want this to be a sad occasion, so please come ready to tell stories and laugh with us as we celebrate his life. If you’d like to bring a covered dish to share, feel free to do so.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Moose Lodge #715, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center.
