Dayton Woodruff Lawman
January 18, 1930 — February 16, 2015
Dayton Woodruff Lawman 85, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2015. He was a graduate of Lynchburg College and owner of A.L. Myers Pest Control Company. He was also a member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church, The Shriner’s, Mason’s, Boonsboro Country Club, and the Elk’s Club.
Born January 18, 1930, in Amherst, VA, he was preceded in death by his father, Percy Myers Lawman; his mother, Myra McDaniel Lawman; his sisters, Darnell Richeson and Shirley Lawman; and his brother, Lewis B. Lawman.
He is survived by his wife, Becki Groome Lawman; his children: Cathy Knight and her husband, Larry, Woody Lawman and his wife, Melanee, and Mary Lynn Bowling and her husband, Randy; and Susan Speeney and her husband Rob. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sarah Canfield, Meg Lawman, Melinda Lawman, Morgan Lawman, Reed Bowling and Caroline Bowling, Anna Speeney, and Ellie Speeney; great-grandchild, Bentley Bolinger; and his nieces: Ruth Pillow, Helen Bowen, and Nell Cordick.
Mr. Lawman was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as sergeant in the tank brigade.
A celebration of Dayton’s life will be conducted on Friday, February 20, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bart Edwards officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to American Cancer Society.
