Deborah Ann “Debbie” Miller passed into the arms of Jesus Christ on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville. Debbie was born on January 21, 1953 in Wilmington, Del. to the late John and Geraldine Press.

She moved to Madison Heights in 1972 and worked for over 31 years at Central Virginia Training Center before retiring in 2017. She gave her time, talents, and wonderful sense of humor tirelessly in service to her family and her community. Always putting others’ needs before her own, Debbie volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and Angel Tree. As a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church she served in the Eucharistic Ministry outreach.

She is survived by a host of loving family members; her daughter Michelle Faulkner; granddaughters Olivia and Cara; sisters Diane Clark, Marlene Shear, and Patricia Phelps; brother John Press; sister-in-law Tanya Press; brothers-in-law Richard Phelps and Greg Shear; nieces Renee Swider and Shea Scruggs; nephews Sean Clark, Daniel Shear, and Eric and Kyle Press. She was preceded in death by her nephew Stephen Clark, brother-in-law Steve Clark and her stepfather Norman Howe.

A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 710 Clay Street, Lynchburg, VA on Wednesday, 12 June at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. Ample parking will be available next the church in the parking garage on the second and third deck.  Debbie was a double lung transplant recipient. She and her family will be forever grateful to the donor, the staff of the University of Virginia Medical Center, and the Transplant Support Group for the remarkable gift of eight additional years of precious life.
