Debra Leftwich Custer

All I ever wanted was my baby girl, she was mine for a short time and she knew how to rock my world, \"you are my baby girl, my world\".

Debra Gaye Leftwich Custer, 46, of Bedford, went home to be with The Lord Friday, August 2, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Roanoke, July 10, 1967.

Debra leaves behind her husband, Barry, whom she loved with all her heart. She was his soul mate, his best friend, buddy, helper, partner and sidekick.

She also leaves behind her dad, Richard Leftwich, whom she loved and adored and in his eyes she could never do no wrong, she had a will about her and she was always so alive and strong, and her mom, Judy Sexton Leftwich, who loved her from the day she was born, knew she was just like her dad and had a way of her own.

A son named Daniel Wayne Custer,\" Little Man,\" the love of her life. All she wanted was for him to make her proud and to see him grow up to become a man and have a family of his own.I am so glad I had the chance to say I love you to each and every one on that day, the chance to say good bye to my one and only son.

Debbie loved her life and her work and she was proud that she had made a home for her family and she filled it full of flowers and lighthouses. She loved birds and being outside, going camping and the water. She was a happy lively person who loved people and never met a stranger. I know she is at peace and no more pain, and soon the day will come when we will all be together again.

She also leaves behind a step-daughter, Andrea Mae Custer Canevari, best friends, Janie Wilson, Angela Robertson. There was Kim Clark who would help take her to her treatments. She became a wonderful friend to Debbie, which meant a lot to the family; her pets, Dixie and Rocky; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside service will be held   Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery conducted by Rick Dellinger.

The family will receive friends today, August 5, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
