Debra Tuggle Patterson, 57, of Lynchburg, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 5, 2015.
Born on March 14, 1958, she was a daughter of Rufus Ventley and Sterling Elder Tuggle. An early graduate of Brookville High School, she attended the Centra Health School of Nursing where she received her certification as an R.N. From there, she continued her education at Lynchburg College and received her Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Nursing, and a Master’s in Business Administration. She completed her studies at Liberty University with a Master’s Degree in the Science of Nursing. Debra worked for Centra Health for a combined total of thirty-four years. Thirty-two of those years were spent in the department of education, and more recently she has worked for two years in hospice care.
In addition to her parents, Debra is survived by her sister, Robin Tuggle Marks of Forest; her nephew, Dylan Marks of Forest; and her beloved yorkie, Preston.
The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Roanoke Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Aspen, 444 Ridgeway Road, Brookneal, VA 24528.
