Delbert Glen Nicely

Delbert Glen Nicely, 79, of Forest, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014. Born July 6, 1935 in Clifton Forge; he was a son of the late Wilbur Nicely and Ida Connor Nicely.
In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Myra Gardner Nicely; his son, Miles Glen Nicely; siblings, Alvin Nicely, Ashby Nicely, Almida Rhea, Ardina Helper, Marie Lacy, Arlie Nicely, and Harold Nicely. Surviving are his daughter, Linda Nicely Shields and husband, Steve; a brother, David Nicely; and many nieces and nephews.
Delbert was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and a retired meat cutter with Harris Teeter. He was a longtime Redskins fan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lynchburg Humane Society, 3305 Naval Reserve Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501 or Campbell County Humane Society, PO Box 651, Rustburg, VA 24588.
A Memorial service will be held 5:00 pm, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Dr. James H. Alley officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
