Delmer Ray Salyer Sr., 66, of Evington, VA, died Tuesday, May 07, 2019. He was the loving husband of Gail Callahan Salyer for 37 years.
Born Monday, April 27, 1953 in Bluefield, WV, Delmer was a son of the late John Keith Salyer and the late Irene Evans Salyer.
In addition to his parents, Delmer was preceded in death by a son, Delmer Ray Salyer, Jr.
In addition to his wife, Delmer is survived by his daughter, Brenda Gayle Owens and husband Chris, four grandchildren, Galen Thomas Morgan and wife Harley, Dalana Rae Salyer, Destiny “Sissy” Overstreet and husband Larry, and Delmer Ray Salyer, III, two great grandchildren, Cynder Rose Morgan and Larry Wayne Overstreet, Jr., a sister, Brenda S. Reynolds and husband Steve; a sister in-law, Robin C. Dalton and husband James, and nephews, Steven and Alex Reynolds.
A “Super Hero”, Delmer could do anything. A great husband, father, and brother, Delmer truly loved his family. He was a gentle and kind person and a hard worker who was willing to help others in need. Delmer was lucky enough to have an abundance of friends who will miss him dearly. An animal lover he will also be missed by his two cats, Bobby, and CME.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg.
