Delmus Younger Phelps, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on August 20, 2023. He was the son of the late William and Ethel Phelps.
He was born on February 23, 1936, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church. Delmus worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
In addition to his wife, Edeltraut Phelps, he is survived by his children, Delmus Phelps (Veronica), Paul Phelps (Suzanne), Jac Phelps (Betty), and Carlos Louise Brooks (Mark); grandchildren, Daniel D. Phelps (Caitlin Roth), Alexander Phelps (Fernanda), Dr. Benjamin Phelps (Morgan), Stefan Phelps (Sydney), Eleni Silva (Pedro), Kieran Phelps (Gigi Guerrero), Jason Phelps (Missy), Jonathan Phelps (Lizzy), Megan Hollopeter (Aaron), Christa Goulet Campo, Jessica Phelps, Joshua Knight (Audrey), Zachary Knight (Asha), Peyton Knight, and Nicholas Knight.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his grandchildren, Marcia Jac Phelps and Marlena Alma Hodges.
A funeral service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 2:00 PM with Dr. James Alley officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
