Delois Madeline Anderson Hancock

Delois Anderson Hancock passed away on Wednesday December 16, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie Anderson Sr. and Mary Rose Anderson.

Delois was born in Madison Heights, Va. on October 30, 1926.  Delois was a lead singer in the gospel choir at Lovingston Baptist Church for many years until her health no longer permitted her to.  She also sang with her family in the group Family Gospel Singers. Her favorite song was “Lifting Up Holy Hands”.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Hancock; two brothers and four sisters.

Delois is survived by her loving daughter Carol H. Russell and a devoted son in-law Thomas Russell; a brother Norvell Anderson Sr.(Kerine) a sister Ann Mccoy (Mitchell) Sister in-law Kathleen Canody two grandchildren Pamela Bennett(Mitchell Sr.), Katrina Core (Daniel) two great grandchildren Mitchell Bennett Jr., Latoya Bennett; two great-great grandchildren Da’Myia, and  Da’Mitri Bennett.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  There will be no repass. Masks and social distancing will be required. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the chapel will only accommodate 100 guests.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
