Delores Hammersley McLaughlin, 85, of Lynchburg went to be with the Lord on
January 12, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Dennis Michael McLaughlin.
Born in Campbell County, on May 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Annie Brown
Hammersley and James Strother (JS) Hammersley. Along with her husband, many years ago she was the co-owner of the Pastry Shop in the Downtown area. Later working and retiring from General Electric and then Ericson with over 27 years of loyal service. She loved to cook and entertain her closest friends and family. She was a member of of Fairview Christian Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Kenneth and Charles Hammersley.
Her survivors include four children. Stephanie Charbonneau of Gladys and Jeffrey Scott; Kelly (Preston) Hatcher, of Monroe, VA; Lisa McCormick of Madison Heights; Megan (Robert) Schrade of Huddleston; and seven grandchildren, Hannah (Nick) Jones of Glen Allen; Travis Powers of Lynchburg; Richard McCormick of Albany, NY; Landon McCormick of Madison Heights; Jessica A. Cannon of Lynchburg; Joey (Brittany) of Lynchburg; and Eric (Carly) Mitchell of Lynchburg, and nine great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the visitation at Fort Hill Cemetery.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
