Delores Jeannette Rucker, 77, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on November 22, 1947, Delores dedicated her life to service and family. She worked for 30 years at the Central Virginia Training Center, where her commitment and strength left a lasting impact. Following her retirement from the center, she continued to serve her community as a Campbell County school bus driver for 15 years, ensuring the safety and care of countless children.
Delores was known for her loving heart, generous spirit, and unwavering strength. She found joy in spending time with her family and cherished every moment shared with them. Shopping and spending time at the beach were her favorite pastimes, often shared with loved ones. Jeannette also loved to spend time reading.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Tanya West, son-in-law Anthony, her son George Rucker Jr., daughter-in-law Angela, and five grandchildren: Anthony West, Zaire West, Georgie Rucker, Nicolett Rucker, and Sara Rucker. She also leaves behind one brother, Antonio Hubbard, and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Charlton Hubbard and Jimmy Hubbard (Stepmother Sally Lawhorne Hubbard); brothers Johnny Hubbard, Robert Lewis Hubbard, and Jimmy Hubbard Jr. and ex-husband George Rucker Sr.
A funeral service to honor Delores's life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
Her steadfast presence and kind soul touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
