Denis Maurice Joncas, 77, of Madison Heights, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn Ramsey Joncas for forty years.
Denis was born in Port Daniel, Quebec, Canada on October 2, 1938, a son of the late Emeric Joncas and the late Helen Cormier Joncas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jerry Newman of Valencia, Calif.; his grandchildren, Mark Robinson, Jamie Robinson, both of Valencia, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Ed Ramsey and his wife, Carol of Simi Valley, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Deborah Freeman and her husband, William of Lynchburg; nieces and nephews, Chuck Freeman of Lynchburg, Zack Freeman and his wife, Daria of California, Eric Joncas of Montreal, Canada, James Ramsey and his wife, Shelly of Australia, Hugette Lemieure, Claude Lemieure, and Jean Lemieure, all three of Montreal, Canada, and Jill Wagner and her husband, Steve of Simi Valley, Calif.; his great–grandniece, Sarah Beth Freeman of Lynchburg; and dear friends considered family, Alan Bernard and his wife, Bonnie, and Alan’s mother, Mary Bernard.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Friday, February 26, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Msgr. J. Kenneth Rush officiating.
