Dennis \"Denny\" Mentzer, 60, of Lynchburg, VA, died Saturday, March 16, 2013.
He was born October 26, 1952 in , PA, a son of the late Robert Harvey Mentzer and Marianna Williams Mentzer.
Denny was an avid hunter and fisherman but was best known as the owner-operator of Sunken Gardens Pets and Supplies. He was currently employed at Andrew-CommScope, Forest, VA where he was an Electronics Technician. He was a lifetime member of Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Co. #7. He was also a member of the George Washington AF&AM Masonic Lodge #43, Chambersburg, PA; Scottish Rites Chapter, Harrisburg, PA; Boy Scouts of America (Eagle Scout), Conococheague District, Chambersburg, PA and Mont Alto United Methodist Church, Mont Alto, PA.
Surviving are his spouse, Michelle\"Shelley\" Knepper Mentzer; Son, David Mentzer and two wonderful grandsons, Camden and Carter whom he loved very much.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of Dennis's life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Amherst County Humane Society Pet Cemetery Fund.
