Dennis Jeffrey Austin, 64 of Evington is celebrating on the streets of gold as of January 9, 2021. He was the devoted love of Pat Whitehouse for nearly 45 years.
Dennis was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on June 24, 1956. He was the son of Curtis Austin and the late Margaret Austin, along with his step-mother Connie Austin.
In addition to his Dad, he is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family, niece Crystal Austin and great nephew Dakota. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Austin. Dennis was a member of Tree of Life Ministry.
He worked for Areva/Framatome for 29 years and his job title was NDE Mechanical Technician IV.
If you wanted to see the lights come on in his face, you only needed to start the conversation of hot rods, classic cars, anything antique in need of love and care for restoration, and he was on! He loved the little great nieces and nephews and was all about reading stories aloud, coloring with them, playing cars and trucks, or whatever they had of interest and wanted to share with him. His next love was fur babies, no matter the kind. He was a gentle, kindred soul, always there and ready for an adventure.
His Sweetheart, as he called her, will forever miss and love him. It did not take a piece of paper to be married in heart. Dennis and Pat loved one another until his last breath as they shared that time alone, with God, until the very end.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502. Pastor Mike Dodson from Tree of Life Ministry will be officiating the service. A graveside service will follow the celebration, with an array of street rods and antique vehicles escorting. Dennis will smile from Heaven as his beautiful black 34 Plymouth will lead the pack!
