Dennis O’Neal Hockett, Sr., 69, of Lynchburg died Monday, October 3, 2016. He was the husband of Vivian Burns Hockett for 48 years.
Dennis was born on March 27, 1947, in Lynchburg, the son of the late Harold O’Neal Hockett and Martha Holmes Holland Hockett. Dennis honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. He retired from Lynchburg Tire Corporation in 2010, where he was employed for 40 years and remained a Partner for the Lynchburg and Madison Heights locations. Dennis was a member of White’s United Methodist Church.
Dennis will be remembered for many things, especially his love of Blue Grass Music, VA Tech Football, and picking the “winning numbers.” Many will remember him best for his off the cuff sense of humor and perfectly timed “one-liners.”

Bull; five grandchildren, Carrie Bull, John Bull, Cassidy Hockett, Emma Hockett and Abigail Hockett; his sister, Nancy H.
