Deward Delane Dillon

Deward Delane Dillon, 78, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his residence. Born in Thorpe, West Virginia on February 26, 1935, a son of the late Oather Lee Dillon and Margaret Wright Dillon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Dillon and his sister, Peggy Dillion Carter.

Deward served his country in the United States Army. He was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Evington, where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir for many years. He also enjoyed collecting pocket knives.

Deward is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sue Musick Dillon; two children, his daughter, Joni Dillon Maio and her husband, Robert of Magnolia, DE, and his son, Darren Dillon of Newport News; one granddaughter, Rachel Dillon; one brother-in-law, Harold Carter; also two nieces, Penny Bryant and her husband, Eddie, and Patricia George and her husband, Michael.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 99, Evington, VA 24550.

A celebration of Deward\"™s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Evington, VA with Rev. Tim Dooley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
