Diane Winifred Johnson

Diane Winifred Johnson, 77, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1948, in Clifton Forge , Virginia, to the late Nelson Ray Johnson and Winifred Webster Johnson.

Diane graduated from Clifton Forge High School in 1966 and pursued her higher education at Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia where she graduated cum laude in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She dedicated many years of her life to serving the community as a medical technician at Bedford Memorial Hospital.

She enjoyed fox hunting in her younger years and continued to enjoy equestrian events. She also loved to go gem mining and enjoyed learning about and identifying various precious and semi-precious stones. She had a big heart for animals and adopted many shelter pets and even took in pets which had been abandoned. In her later years she enjoyed traveling and had been to Egypt, Russia, Scotland, Iceland, and Alaska.

Diane is survived by her sister, Delora Bright and her husband, Thomas, of Cave Spring, Virginia, as well as a nephew, Christopher W. Bright and his wife Katie, of Lynchburg, Virginia. She is also survived by two aunts, Mildred Johnson of Clifton Forge, Virginia, and Dona Webster of Erie, Pennsylvania.

The family would also like to thank Diane’s good friend, Judy Westenhoffer, for her assistance during this difficult time.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Donna Johnson of Bedford.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
