Dolores Helene Feldman, 89, passed away in her home of 63 years on Friday, December 20, 2019. She was born on March 25, 1930 in New York City, she was the daughter of William Howard Schrank and Edyth Pohs Schrank.
Dolores is survived by two children, Leslie F. Brooks (Steven) and Adam Jay Feldman (Jill), two grandchildren Michael Alexander Feldman, and Jenna Michelle Feldman, her son-in-law James Ackroyd Jr., her beloved sister-in-law Audrey Feldman, three nieces numerous great nephews, and nieces.
She attended Brooklyn College until her marriage to Stanley in 1950. After marrying they moved to Lynchburg where they owned Art Nitewear Corp. and later Joan and Jay Inc., two manufacturing sewing plants which they operated until their retirements. A lifelong devotee of the arts, Dolores attended Randolph Macon Woman’s College from which she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1980 and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. An accomplished pastel artist herself she spent many happy hours totally engrossed in her painting.
The family would like to thank their wonderful neighbors, and friends for their many kindnesses, and friendship offered over the years.
A celebration of life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm Thursday December 26, 2019. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the Lynchburg Humane Society.
