Don Stanjenn Smith, 86, of Bedford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of Toni Howell West. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family above all else.
Born in Richmond on February 25, 1933, he was the son of the late Harry and Josephine English Smith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Randy Smith (Janis) of Mechanicsville, Robb Smith of Glen Allen; brother: H. Stuart Smith (Nancy) of Virginia Beach; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Don was a U.S. Army Veteran and Master Mason of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M., of Virginia, Glen Allen Lodge No. 131. Don was co-founder and past president of the Smith Mountain Lake Antique Boat Club Chapter.
Don’s love of the water was larger than life. His years and good times skiing, entertaining and boating in every capacity imaginable truly defined who he was. His zest for life and laughter are already missed but he lives on in our hearts forever.
Services are private. Donations in his memory may be made to Medi Hospice, 4415 Pheasant Ridge Road, Suite 102, Roanoke, VA 24014 to whom we also want to thank for their compassionate care.
