Donald \"Don\" Hoar, 77, of Moneta, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Lewis Gale Medical Center. Born on July 14, 1934 in Melrose, MA, son of the late Lorne Eli Hoar and Clasina Aldenberg Hoar.
Don served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He worked for E-Systems as a Chief Administrator. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA. He once served as a Smith Mountain Lake Marine Vol. Fire Fighter. He loved the lake, while enjoying boating, skiing and swimming. He and his wife Evelyn loved to travel in their RV across the U.S. Don was a very loving, humble, gracious man who loved spending time with his family and friends. Some of his most cherished moments were spent aside his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn. He was loved by many and will be missed by so many more.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his children; Don Jr. \"Rick\" and wife Ann of Stafford, VA, Penney of Manassas, VA, and Glen and wife Lorie of Fredericksburg, VA; his sister; Doris Whyte of Lehigh Acres, FL; six grandchildren, Shannon, Denise, Brittany, David, Justin, and Phillip; three great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Tori, and Jordan. Don also leaves behind many, many good friends.
