Donald E. Davis

d. October 19, 2015

Don Davis, 88, of Mohawk Drive, while surrounded by his loving daughters, Donna Lloyd, and Wanda Wilson and her husband, Buddy, crossed over into the Promised Land to spend eternity with his wife, Kitty H. Davis, the love of his life!

Born in Radford, he was the son of the late Charlie and Lula Davis and stepfather Draper Vaughn. Don was a retired Master Printer and was a renowned woodcraftsman. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face to share with his friends and family.

Don served his country in occupied Japan from 1945 until 1947 as a Staff Sargent MP. He was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother Edward “Pete” Davis and infant sister Rebecca Davis. Don is survived by daughter, Diane Fortune; his grandchildren, Kenny Duncan (Colleen), Donnie Wilson, Christie Lawhorn (Terry), Jennifer Simonton (Johnny), Tracy and Lindsay Crickenberger; a longtime friend Delma Scott; and a special feline, “Billy”. Don is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law that he loved dearly!

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with Chaplain Brian Whited and the Rev. Becky Cloud officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
