Donald Frank Huntley

August 4, 1932 — January 19, 2023

Donald Frank Huntley passed away peacefully after a brief illness on 1/19/2023. He most recently resided at the Elk’s National Home in Beford, Virginia. He celebrated his 90 birthday this past August and was fortunate to visit with and enjoy friends and family this fall and Christmas season.

Don was born in Turner, Michigan and worked his entire life in the automotive industry, first at GM then Ford for 35+ years. He loved cars! He loved working on them, and his pride and joy was his canary yellow 1966 Thunderbird! He lived in Detroit MI and Cleveland OH, then did a foreign service in Mexico while living in Laredo TX. He also, lived in Grand Rapids, MI, Detroit, and Cleveland. He retired to Clemson, SC and then spent his remaining years in Beford, Virginia.

Don met the love of his life, Ann Hallisy, in 1951 in the United States Marine Corps. They were married the next year and enjoyed more than 58 loving years together. Don and Ann were blessed with five children, thirteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

After raising their family, Don and Ann delighted in years traveling and participating in couple’s groups, entertaining, golfing, supper club, and square dancing (which they picked up in Loredo and carried with them to South Carolina). They had many wonderful memories and Don enjoyed recanting them often when visiting.

Don is preceded in death by his wife Ann, parents, Frank and Martha Huntley, brother Harold Huntley, sisters Francis Nutter, Phyliss Biggs, and Jeanne Greenhoe. Don is survived by his brother David Huntley and Wife Nona, children – Jim (son) and Carolyn McCamman of Bradenton, FL., Christopher (son) and Jody Huntley also of Bradenton, FL., Sharon (daughter) and George Elkoury of Euclid, OH., Mark (son) and Barbara Huntley of Forest, VA., and Jonathan (son) and Tina Huntley of Cleveland Heights, OH., grandchildren – Krista, Kara, Kathleen, Rod, Katie, Heather, Elizabeth, Patricia (deceased), Nicolette, Conner and Corinne, and great-grandchildren – Owen, Mary, Emma, Leo, Christopher, Willow, Carolyne, Colin, Eli, Michael, Daniel, Scarlett, and Seraphina.

Don and Ann will be interned together in Arlington National Cemetery with full Military Honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to a Veteran’s care facility in Don and Ann’s name.
