Donald Franklin Tyree, Sr.

Donald Franklin Tyree, Sr., 81 of Madison Heights went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Don retired from Norfolk Southern after 27 years of service. He served in the U. S. Marine corps and the U. S. Navy. After retirement he was a transporter for Pinkerton Chevrolet. He enjoyed playing softball, baseball and bowling and loved hunting and fishing. One of his favorite things was the long rides through the mountains with his dear Betty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Margaret Tyree; brother, William E. ”Dickie” Tyree. Surviving are his wife of 57 years Betty Tomlin Tyree; sons, Donald Franklin Tyree II (Melinda), Derek Tyree; grandchildren, Chelsey Tyree, Tre Tyree, Olivia Tyree, Ruger Tyree, Paxton Elder, Makynna Campbell, Ryan Dorr, Brandon Dorr and Knoah Kessler; great-grandchild, Paisley Rae Uttley; sisters, Norma Jean Coleman (Gordon), Mary Ann Stinnett also surviving are a number of special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Union Christian Church on River Road in Madison Heights from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m.
