Donald Lee Hindman, 71, of Forest, VA, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.  He was the loving husband of 49 years to Janice Elaine McCall Hindman.

Donald was born Friday, June 15, 1945 in Seneca, South Carolina to the late William Stone Hindman and Frances Mays Hindman.  He attended high school in Walhalla, South Carolina followed by Clemson University and then he obtained his Ph. D. from Iowa State University.  He worked as a Research Engineer in the ceramic and nuclear industries.  He was retired from Babcock & Wilcox where he was a research engineer.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Jonathan Lee Hindman and wife Julie, George Matthew Hindman and wife Catherine, two brothers Bill Hindman of Burlington, North Carolina and Larry Hindman of Walhalla, South Carolina, two grandsons, John Patrick Hindman and Andrew William Hindman of Lynchburg, Virginia, three granddaughters, Savannah Renee Hindman, Charlotte Wren Hindman of Virginia Beach, and Tabitha Hindman Huizinga of Houston, Texas, and many other relatives and friends.  Don loved his family and the Lord Jesus dearly.

A celebration of Donald’s life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel, Lynchburg. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, Virginia from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
