Donald Lee Maddox, 81, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011.
Donald was born February 7, 1930 in Lynchburg; he was a son of the late John Edward Maddox and the late Beulah Wright Maddox. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Foley Co. and the Furicon Co. where he was project manager for over 40 years.
Donald was a member of Fairview Christian Church. He was an avid fisherman, pilot, and also enjoyed showing world champion horses along the east coast. He was a member and pilot of the Civil Air Patrol.
He is survived by his daughter, Lauri Sites and her husband, Ralph of Rustburg, brother, Ray Maddox and his wife, Bernice of Lynchburg, sister, Kaye Hartless of Lynchburg, and his grandchildren, Wyatt Sites, Ryan Hasson, Caleb Hasson, all of Rustburg, and Rachel Sites of Richmond.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home. A celebration of Donald's life will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel Tharp Funeral Home with Rev. D. Jack Hamilton. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
