Donald Lee Russell, 53, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Tammy Michelle Cook Russell.
Born in Portsmouth, OH, October 31, 1957, he was the eldest son of Shirley (Sue) Ames Russell and the late Gerald Leroy Russell. Donald was an active member of Keystone Baptist Church. He was a former Baptist Student Union Minister at Lynchburg College.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Andrew Leroy Russell, age 4 of Lynchburg; his mother, two brothers, Dennis Russell of Tennessee and Dan Russell of NC; a sister, Lisa Turner of Lynchburg; mother and father-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Wayne (Janine) Cook of Chesapeake; five Sister-in-laws; four Brother-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Keystone Baptist Church with the Dr. J. Monty Fox and Dr. A.Wayne Cook officiating.
