Donald Robert Temple, 87, of Smith Mountain Lake left his earthly body to join his Lord on Monday, February 25, 2019.
He was born in New York in 1931, where he also married Grace, his loving wife of 66 years.
Donald is also survived by his 5 children; Scott (Susan), Donna Mitchell, Gail Dini (Randy), Dean (Kathleen) and Christopher Temple, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his sister, Ann Proctor, and his service cat, D’Arcy.
He was a proud Marine Veteran and was instrumental in helping to honor local Iwo Jima veterans. Don was an active member of Eastlake Community Church before becoming ill and an early mentor at the Agape Center.
After 46 years with the F.W.Woolworth Co., he retired to an active life of boating and fishing, hunting, reading non-fiction history books and enjoying Bluegrass music.
A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at a later date. In honor of his memory, donations may be made to the Eastlake’s building fund at ELCC, 1118 Hendricks Store Rd., Moneta, VA 24121 (Memo on check to read: Multiply Campaign/Don Temple).
