Donald Wellington Johnson
Donald Wellington Johnson 80, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, December 10, 2011. He was the husband of Joan Johnson.
Donald was born Sunday, December 14, 1930 in Lynchburg, a son of the late Leroy Johnson and Marie Turner Johnson… He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed contractor and Chairman of the Trustee Board of White Rock Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Donita Johnson, Donald L. Johnson (Sherrie), Donna Mallet (Dominic), Rita Coles and Anthony Lee Johnson (Paula); a brother, Melvin Johnson (Veronica); a sister, Carolyn Pryor (John); grandchildren: Jemell Johnson, Eboni Askew (Demetrece), Nakeya Johnson, Jan-Michael Johnson, Deante Johnson, Venita Clark (Shaun), Latorya Alexander, Lorenzo Alexander, Jessica Thompson (Gerwin), Anthony Johnson, Jr. Trynequa Jones (Jawaun), Quintase Peerman, Tornisha Peerman, Jackaa Peerman and 24 great grandchildren; two devoted cousins: Jean Anderson and Bobby Anderson and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and two sister-in-laws: Anna Gilbert and Shirley Murphy.
He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Leroy Shelton.
HE NEVER MET A STRANGER. He will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him.
A celebration of Donald's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at White Rock Baptist Church with Pastor Ricardo Hailstock officiating.
