Donald Wright Burks, 77, of Big Island, went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born to the late Edgar Parks Burks and Montine Wilkins Burks. He worked as a master mechanic for thirty-seven years at Georgia Pacific paper mill in Big Island. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Amelia Gayle Fifer Burks; three children, Kimberly Agee and her husband, Rickie, Beverly Jenks and her husband, Steven, and Gregory Burks and his wife, Monica; eight grandchildren, Brandon Patterson and his wife, Kristi, Daniel Patterson and his wife, Tamara, Garrett Patterson, Douglas Holland, Elizabeth Burks, Taylor Burks, Harley Burks, and Siera Burks; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gunner, and Weston Patterson; his sister, Norma Burks Smith; and one niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be held at Sedalia Baptist Church on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 12 noon. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with a luncheon to follow at Sedalia Baptist Church.
