The world has lost a bright soul. On Friday, May 20, 2016, Donna Ruth Webster Yerdon Allen died peacefully in her home. She was the devoted wife of the late David Alton Yerdon, who passed in 2000; and the late John David Allen, who passed in 2009.
Born in Goshen, New York on September 26, 1942, Donna was a daughter of the late Ronald Sanford Webster and the late Mildred Elizabeth Hoke Webster. She worked for many years as a medical secretary/transcriptionist for M.I. Bassett Hospital, and was a member of Langhorne Chapel Community Church. Donna was also a member of Tharp’s Support Group and Duiguid’s Support Group.
Donna never met a stranger; she had many friends and made friends very easily. A very outgoing person, she was interested in the well-being of other people and loved to laugh and make others happy. Donna loved to travel and stay active, and enjoyed golfing, bicycling, playing the organ at church, and watching football on Sundays. As part of her care-taking personality, she loved to cook and bake delicious food for others to enjoy. In fact, you could say her primary pleasure in life was spending time with her family and putting on a meal for them. She loved to read in her spare time, and there was no Sudoku puzzle that she couldn’t handle. Donna thoroughly enjoyed her last ten months with us in the company of her very dear friend, Denny Rinker. The two of them would go sightseeing, bird watching, and of course, they would enjoy a good meal out together.
Left behind to cherish Donna’s memory are her children, Pastor Dan Yerdon and his wife, Michelle of Madison Heights, and Monica Yerdon deBruycker and her husband, Roy deBruycker, III of Bluffton, S.C.; her grandchildren, Steffanie Price and her husband, Matt of Madison Heights, Benjamin Yerdon of San Diego, Calif., and Roy deBruycker, IV of Bluffton, S.C.; her great-granddaughter, Danielle Marie of Madison Heights; her siblings, Laura Webster of Cherry Valley, N.Y. and Zephyrhills, Fla., Sandra Wright and her husband, Cliff of Cherry Valley, N.Y., and Ronald Webster and his wife, Carol of Milton, Del.; her very special friend, Denny Rinker of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at Christ Community Church on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Glen Shelton and Pastor Dwight Weaver officiating.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
