Donnie Tomlin Crawford, 91, of Lynchburg, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, March 20, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

 

Born September 1, 1925 in Coleman Falls, she was the daughter of the late Linwood W. Tomlin and Josie Tomlin of Big Island.

 

She was retired from General Electric and enjoyed crocheting and making quilts and other handmade items to give to family and friends.

 

She was previously a member of Fairview United Methodist Church for fifty years, where she was a member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. She also assisted with Bible School crafts. She was a member of Helping Hands and Quilt & Chatter. She was most recently a member of Jordan Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

 

Donnie is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Joseph E. Crawford; a daughter, Linda F. Davidson of Lynchburg; a daughter, Sandy Searcy and husband Mike of Colorado; four grandchildren, Waverly Scott Davidson of Evington, Tammy Milford and husband Scott of Lynchburg, Traci Glantz and husband Todd of Colorado; Richard Jenks, (Noelle) of Colorado, two great-grandchildren of Colorado; and two sisters, Josie Harris of Rustburg, and Audrey Whorley of Big Island.

 

Donnie was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Irvin Tomlin, Pearl Aireson, and Minnie Oliver; and brothers, Grover Tomlin, Jerry Tomlin, Jessie Tomlin, Willard (Bill) Tomlin, and C. Edward Tomlin.

 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Jordan Baptist Church. A celebration of Donnie’s life will follow at 12 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Jordan Baptist Church in Lynchburg with the Rev. Melvin Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude or Jordan Baptist Church.
