Doris Ayers Van Wagner, 104, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 19, 2010. She was the wife of the late Welton Barthoff Van Wagner.
Doris was born January 22, 1906, in Canonsburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late McCarrell Luther Ayers and Sarah Dorris Anderson Ayers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Ayers, and three sisters, Ethel Mae A. Mountford, Eva Grace A. Bebout, and Mildred A. Rankin.
Doris was a member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Geneva College, and was a retired Law Librarian with the U.S. Treasury Department. She traveled extensively during her lifetime throughout the world.
She is survived by a son, F. William Artois and wife, Carol of Forest; a granddaughter, Catherine A. Bray and husband, Oliver of West Point, VA; a grandson, John W. Artois and wife, Kathleen of Winterville, NC; four great grandchildren, Rebekah B. Davis and husband Ryan, Rachel E. Bray, Lesley C. Artois, and John (Jack) Artois.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Corey D. Ingold officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg, PA.
