Doris Haynes Trevey, 87, died on August 20, 2018.
Born August 7, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late English Monroe Haynes and Mary Hutcherson Haynes. She was trained and worked as a registered nurse at the Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. She also worked at the Lynchburg College infirmary, the old Lynchburg Hospital nursing home on Hollins Mill Road, and ended her nursing career at the Williams Home. She was a member of Redeeming Grace Baptist Church (formerly Old Forest Road Baptist Church).
Doris Trevey was preceded in death by her twin brother, Maurice, brothers, Eugene and Harold, and sisters, Verlie Haynes Simpson, Irene Haynes Saunders, and Hilma Haynes Mayhew.
Her surviving sisters are Hessie Midkiff of Winston-Salem, Gladys Ore of Lynchburg, and Shirley Doss of Hurt. She is also survived by her children: Lisa T. Alty (Greg) of Lynchburg, Tom Scott Trevey (Helen) and Julie D. Trevey (Olen Crane) of Richmond, and her six grandchildren: Isaac G. Alty, Winston Crane, John Thomas Trevey, Berkeley Crane, Sarah Trevey and Lauren Trevey.
A memorial service will be held at Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, 3630 Old Forest Road, on Friday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. A private burial will take place at Fort Hill Burial Park.
