Doris Jean Ferguson

Doris Jean Ferguson, 85, of Huddleston passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 with her family by her side. Born July 8, 1925 in Lincroft, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ethel Riddle Layton. She was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church and the Smith Mountain Lake community for the past 25 years.

Doris will be deeply missed by her husband of 64 years, James V. Ferguson; her two daughters, Patricia Carr and husband, Michael of Moneta and Barbara Puca and husband, Sal of Ewing, NJ; her two sons, Michael Ferguson and wife, Carol of Johnson City, TN and Robert Ferguson and wife, Kate of Philadelphia, PA; a brother, Kenneth Layton and wife, Jane of Toms River, NJ; a sister, Joan Brown of Martinsburg, WV; eleven grandchildren, Kerry Ferguson, Deni Reilly, Ali Edelstein, Elizabeth Ferguson, Kevin Rockey, J.P. Ferguson, Kaitlin Rockey, Declan Ferguson, Dave Puca, Joel Puca, and Christin Loretucci and four great grandchildren, Arjuna Ferguson, Jake and Sadie Edelstein, and Nicholas Loretucci.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church.

A mass of resurrection celebrating Doris\"™ life will be conducted on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 10:00 am at Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Joseph Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
