Doris Juanita Reynolds Wilford

Doris Juanita Reynolds Wilford, 89, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. She was born in Bedford Co., VA on October 9, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Roy Maynard Reynolds and Willie Scott Key Reynolds. In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James Ballard “J.B.” Wilford; four brothers, Robert Earl Reynolds, PFC John Franklin “Jack” Reynolds, William Ray Reynolds and Dean Russell Reynolds.

Doris loved cleaning, cooking, spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling especially on local bus tours across the country. She retired from C&P Telephone Co. as a telephone operator. She also worked at the Peaks of Otter Lodge for several years.

Doris is survived by three sisters, Lois Reynolds Meador, Cornelia Reynolds Reese and Marguerite Reynolds Cottrell-Bowden; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A Funeral service and celebration of Doris’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home Bedford.
