Doris Maddox Padgett

Doris Maddox Padgett, 89, of Lynchburg passed away September 19th, 2013. She was the wife of the late James B. Padgett for 59 years.

Born March 12, 1924 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Daisy and John Maddox. She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Andrew and Arthur Maddox, Lois Allen, Maggie DeJarnette, and her twin sister, Dorothy Millner.

During Doris\"™ life, she worked for Leggett Department Store and retired from Nationwide Insurance Company. Doris loved to travel and go whenever the opportunity arose.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Dianne P. Lawrence, of Lynchburg, and two grandsons: James S. Lawrence and Joshua R. Lawrence.

Doris was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 54, Rebekah Lodge, Chapter 52, and Scottish Rite Women.

A celebration of Doris\"™s life will be held at Noon on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Carlton Duck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
