Doris M. Metts

Doris Metts, 90, of Forest, Va. went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, November 2, 2024. She was born to parents Cleland and Ethel Maddox on June 19, 1934 in Lynchburg, Va.

She was the loving and dedicated wife of her late beloved husband, Jimmie H. Metts for 67 years, and the sister of the late Cleland Maddox Jr. Doris is survived by her son, Stephen K. Metts and daughter Robin M. Smith (Chris), her two grandsons, Nathaniel C. Smith (Whitney), and Brandon H. Smith. Ryker, and Cora, her two great grandchildren, her niece Sandra West, her great niece, Tanya Rees and her great nephews, Glenn and Terry West.

Doris was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and a talented member of The Wayside Garden Club. She retired from Verizon in May of 1994 with 42 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose presence and laughter will be missed. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Loretta, Victoria, McKendree, and Jill. A special thank you also to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Heather, and Gwen. Angels on earth.

Her family would like to welcome friends to visit with them Wednesday November 6, 2024  from 6-8P.M. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg location. A funeral will be conducted Thursday November 7, 2024 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg Chapel at 11:00A.M. with burial to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
