Doris Russell

Doris Muriel Russell went home Wednesday August 11, 2010 to her heavenly father after a long battle with cancer.

Doris was born December 4, 1947 in Madison Heights. She was the daughter of the late James Owen Russell and Thalia Morgan Russell of Madison Heights. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Hayward Russell.

Doris was blessed with three children; Jacqueline D. Booker of Madison Heights, Vernetta D. Russell of Rustburg and Nathan W. Russell of Madison Heights. She also leaves two brothers; Thomas Russell (Carol) of Lynchburg and Morris Russell (her twin) of Madison Heights; and two sisters; Cornelia Fitch (James) of Concord and Deleta Scott of Madison Heights. Doris also leaves six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, an uncle Thomas E. Morgan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 14, 2010 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with the Rev. Ernest Penn, II officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of the Hills and all their staff for all the care and acts of kindness during this heartbreaking time.
