Dorman Lee Jones Sr.

Dorman Lee Jones, Sr., 87, of Gladstone, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He was the son of the late Albert Franklin Jones and Annie Elizabeth Jones. Dorman was predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia Jones.

Dorman was an avid outdoorsman that had a love for hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was well known for his large vegetable gardens and his beautiful flower gardens. He loved to share his knowledge, his stories, and adventures with everyone, and to inspire the younger generation. Dorman will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Teresa Widener and husband Jim, Alice Mattox, Tracey Bryant and husband Macky, Dorman Jones Jr. and wife Michelle, Jennifer Martin and husband Greg, Katherine Jones, and Daniel Jones; grandchildren, Robert Bayne Jr (Jessica), Kelsey Bayne, Samantha Tyree, Brittney Tyree, Kaylee Gage (Jacob), Kenzie Burrill (Matthew), Karli Frederickson (Byron), Heather Mays (Michael), Hannah Campbell (Cody), Dorman Jones III, Greg Martin Jr (Patricia), Mary Martin (Nathaniel), Caleb Post, Chloe Post, and Elijah Post; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Campbell and Clara Hudson; a special cousin and friend, William Fitch Tyree; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dorman is predeceased by his brother, Frank Jones and his sister, Viola Cox.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights, with Rev. David Clay officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
