Dorothy L. “Cranny” Lindsay

Dorothy Lucado Lindsay (Cranny), age 92, of Madison Heights, VA, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 19, 2021at her residence. Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, David Edward “Ed” Lindsay.

Dot was born on December 4, 1928, a daughter of the late John Lucado, Sr. and Elma Marsh Lucado of Oakville, VA.

Dot retired from Whitten Funeral Home after 33 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church, where she attended regularly and was a member the Gleaners Sunday School Class.

Other than her husband and her parents, Dot was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Brooks and Marion Williamson; three brothers, Bob Lucado, Eugene Lucado, and John Lucado, Jr.

Cranny is survived by her only child Sharon Lindsay-Cash and William “Sambo” Brooks, two granddaughters, Stefanie Tyree Yancey and her husband Barry, Lindsay Michelle Johnson and her husband, Kelvin; three precious great grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart, Brianna Yancey, River Yancey, and Mason Johnson; two sisters, Phyllis Smith and Patricia Phelps, a sister in-law Sis Lucado and many special nieces and nephews, who loved her deeply.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights. A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be at held Madison Heights Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 22, 2021, with Pastor Larry Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in Meade Cemetery.

A special thank you to Cranny’s caregivers for their love and care, Teresa Jennings and Mary Jones. To her special Mountain View Drive neighbors, we thank you for all the love you gave to her. We also want to thank Centra Hospice and her favorite nurse, Rachel.
