Dorothy Mae Carter Marks, 88, of Madison Heights, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. She was the loving wife of the late Samuel Watts Marks.
Dorothy was born in Schuyler, Va. September 7, 1926, a daughter of the late Lester Omen Carter and the late Willie Nash Carter.
She is survived by her children, Debra Gantt and husband, Joey Gantt, Jr. of Destin, Fl., Timothy Marks and wife, Pam of Aiken S.C., Bryan L. Marks of Richmond, Va., Sally A. Marks of Ruther Glen, Va. and her adoptive daughter, Deborah L. Canard of Ruther Glen, Va.; four grandchildren, Heath Marks, Lance Marks, Derek Bryant and Blake Bryant and his wife, Meghan; a brother, Riley Carter of Madison Heights; two sisters, Jean Bryant of Madison Heights, and Judith Mayberry of Amherst.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights.
Friends and family are invited to join us in a celebration of Dot’s life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at The Kingdom Hall, 2231 S. Amherst Hwy, Amherst VA.
