Dorothy Mae Thomas Stanley, 91, of Bedford, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at The Carrington. She was born October 24, 1922 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Parry Lee Cundiff Thomas and William Howard Thomas.
Dorothy was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Beard Stanley; two sisters, Ruby Temples and Frances Stanley; and two brothers, Wilmot Thomas and Earl Thomas. She is survived by five children, Donald Henry Stanley and his wife, Betty of Bedford, James Randolph Stanley and his wife, Sharon of Bedford, Barbara Jean Bickerton and her husband, William of Denver, CO, Cheryl Marie Simmons of Winston-Salem, NC, and Pamela Mae Gillette and her husband, Donald of Roanoke; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
