Dorothy Mays Perrow

December 17, 1926 — April 7, 2016

Dorothy Mays “Dot” Perrow, 89, of Lynchburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.

Born on December 17, 1926, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Eugene Mays and the late Ada Massie Mays.

Dot was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church. She retired from Lynchburg College, where she worked in the Student Health Center for over 25 years. She loved her job and co-workers so much that she worked until she was 80 years old. She had a tremendous love for all animals, but more recently it was for her cats and “grand-dog” Molly Ann.

Dot is survived by her husband of almost 54 years, Paul Edward Perrow; her son Doug Bevins and his wife, Janice, of Mechanicsville, VA; her granddaughter, Shauna; her grandson, Brian, and his wife, Kristle; four great-grandchildren, Dustin, Savana, Gavin, and Hayden; her brother, Eugene Paul Mays, and his wife, Helen; and many other caring and loving family members.

In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her brother, James Edward Mays, and his wife, Peggy Bell Mays.

The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, on Sunday, April 10, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and at other times at the Perrow residence. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park with her pastor, Rev. Larry Fitzgerald, officiating.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Centra ICU staff at Lynchburg General Hospital and Centra Hospice staff at Virginia Baptist Hospital for their wonderful caring support to Dot and her family.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
