Dorothy Nicholas “Dot” Allen, 92, of Madison Heights, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at her home. She was the wife of the late Alvin K. Allen.
Born in Lynchburg, on July 24, 1926, she was the last of ten children of the late Montague and Susie Bell Wright Nicholas. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen Faye Allen and Jackie Lee Allen. She is survived by daughters, Susan Pugh (Dave), Cindy Neighbors (Tommy) and Lynn Cannon (Jimmy); seven grandchildren, Glenn Burford, Wendy Burks, Jenny Follett, Terri Sheppard, David Pugh, Kelly Lyons, and Kyle Cannon; and 10 great-grandchildren all of whom affectionately referred to her as Momma Dot.
Momma Dot was the matriarch of her family and was loved by all. She was an active member of the Ageless Wonders, a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Lynchburg Chapter 54, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She spent her life raising her children and her grandchildren. She loved traveling with her family and staying active.
A celebration of life will be held at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019. The family will receive friends for one hour prior the service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
