View Tribute VideoDorothy Reynolds Carwile entered Heavens gates Wednesday, January 2, 2019. She was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 67 years, James Edward Carwile; her sister, Margaret R. Moore; and her four brothers, Raymond, Willie, Junior, and Loxley.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on May 26, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James Leonard and the late Nona Burnette Reynolds.
Affectionately known as Dot, she was a loving mother and grandmother. She also was a remarkable cook that enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her home was always open to everyone! She collected cookbooks and often read them as if they were novels, however, she started each day reading her bible and saying a prayer. Wordly possesions meant nothing to Dot. She enjoyed many cruises with her family and loved to shop. She and her sister spent every Thursday morning at Biscuitville enjoying breakfast and conversation. Dot was a very positive person, always a lady with radiant, infectious smile. She always saw the good in everyone.
Dot was a member of the Rebekkahs and a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she made many lifelong friendships.
Dot is survived by her two daughters, Shirley C. Walthall (Lloyd) and Kathy C. Hines (Harold); her two precious granddaughters, Ana M. Hines (Bradley Shaner) and Emerald D. Hines (Logan Shorter); her sister, Frances R. Keeler and many nieces and nephews. Surviving her are also Michelle R. Douthat and Kathy H. Straw, sharing her home and love while their parents worked. Dot loved everyone and to know her was to love her.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 19278 Forest Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502, and the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060, or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January, 7, 2019 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, Lynchburg with Rev. Mike Dodson, Sr. and Rev. Rick Ewing officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow the service in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
